We’ve had amazing guests on The Indypendent News Hour throughout 2024. And that continues today with our New Year’s Eve edition which will air from 5–6 p.m. on WBAI-99.5 FM.
In the first half of the show we’ll speak with State Senator Jabari Brisport about the savage killing of Robert Brooks by upstate prison guards and what kind of changes are needed to New York’s state prison system as well as the waning of Black Lives Matter in recent years, the prospects for its resurgence. We’ll also talk with Brisport, a democratic socialist and longtime activist before he was elected in 2020, about how to sustain movements when facing a system that refuses to change.
In the second half of today’s show, we’ll speak with labor organizer and author Eric Blanc about the recent wave of strikes at Amazon and Starbucks and how labor can still win big in the next four years if it dares to use its full power.
